And Once Again…

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Hahah, that’s right, I’m currently working on chapter 2 of my comic. It’s going to be in english this time round, not much sense in writing it in another language when my friends won’t understand it. It’s also going to be mostly in black and white, like a traditional manga, with colour in select panels. It’ll take too much time away from my work if I did the entire comic in colour. Anyway, below is a WIP of it, enjoy.

Our Tradition Chapter 2

Aside from that, I just finished playing Folklore. Great game, beautiful story and very well developed characters. That and the art direction is absolutely breathtaking! It was a pretty refreshing experience considering I’ve never really played an RPG with a story of such genre.

In other news, I was speaking with my family over Skype the other day and my mom told me I won a Dogwood District Scholarship! Hahah, now my sister has to accept it in my place since I’m in Singapore right now. Anyway, praise be to God, I’m really happy I got a scholarship.

Officially Enlisted…

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

Finally received the enlistment letter and I’ll be reporting to my respective unit for 4 weeks of physical training on the thirteenth of December, following that will be 9 weeks of basic military training…fun stuff. So yeah, if anyone notices I’ve dropped off the planet for about a month, this is probably the reason.

Iris

A quick duotone photograph of a sketch of something I’m currently working on. Hahah, that was a mouthful. I was just fooling around in Photoshop, but it turned out rather nice, so I thought I would just share it. Enjoy.

Pedestrian Life in Singapore

Traffic

Okay, so I’ve known for the longest time that many Singaporeans drive like madmen. However, I had always thought that to be more of an exaggeration than actual fact. Now that I’ve been living here for more than a month, I’ve noticed, a couple of times, cars simply running red lights. Of course, these don’t occur at intersections, at least not that I’ve seen, but mostly at pedestrian crosswalks. Did I mention that they don’t run through them while attempting to beat an amber light? They run through them knowing full well that it’s a red!

What the heck?

So several weeks ago, I saw a car run a red light, this one happened because the bugger was on his cell phone while driving, and after he runs the red, he makes an illegal U-turn at the following intersection! Furthermore, just yesterday, I witnessed the same thing happen not once, not twice, but three friggin times! All at the same crosswalk. The first one didn’t exactly run the red, he managed to stop in time, albeit a screeching one. Several minutes later, a pickup truck comes roaring right through the red light without even flinching while there were pedestrians crossing the road at the same time, good thing no one got hit though. What is the bloody point of putting a pedestrian controlled crosswalk there if drivers are just going to ignore it? The last one was in the evening when I came back from shopping.

The scary thing is drivers could probably care less for pedestrians, sure they don’t want to run them over, but they don’t want to give way either, crosswalk or not. What’s worse is that some pedestrians don’t even use the crosswalks, especially the elderly, my grandmother being one of them. They seem to think that Singapore roads are still like the old roads of kampong villages and that even if a car is coming, it won’t hit them.

Noise

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Some of my pieces have been shortlisted for the Noise Singapore Art Festival. Thanks be to God! It feels rather odd though, to know that your works have been selected…Now I just have to figure out how to send in my high resolution Photoshop files, most of which are well over 100MB in size! Haha.

Anyway, I’m trying to decide on whether I should buy the new 20″ iMac or not, Leopard’s not out yet, so I’ll probably wait for that to be released first…

In other news, it’s been really sunny lately and the humidity hasn’t let up either. Yet, even with the sun high in the sky, there was thunder…I’m not kidding, thunder! Anyway, yea that amused me quite a bit. I’m done for now, time to continue work on my Full Throttle piece.

Full Throttle!

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Great news for me today! Just found out that there’s going to be a third season of my favourite anime ever, You’re Under Arrest! It was the very first anime I watched and I still love it a lot, so I’m pretty psyched about this! So much so that I’m working on a drawing just to celebrate, hahah, although I’ve actually done quite a bit of You’re Under Arrest fanarts lately, but that’s completely besides the point. Anyway, the new season’s going to be called Full Throttle! And here’s the sketch of the drawing I mentioned, the composition isn’t final, I’m going to change and move some stuff around when I digitize the lineart.
